SOOF lift blepharoplasty – Charlotte, NC

The SOOF lift blepharoplasty

Blepharoplasty, or eyelid surgery, is most often done to make the eyes look younger. One approach with the lower eyelid is the SOOF lift blepharoplasty, in which the surgeon lifts the suborbicularis oculi fat back into place and secures it there. The first thing to do is go over your medical history with your surgeon, and get an eye exam, to see if there’s any reason you shouldn’t have this done. As with most surgeries, if you smoke, you should stop several weeks before the operation. Don’t take any pain medication that could increase bleeding. Since you’ll be under general anesthetic, you’ll need someone to drive you home after the surgery.

You should expect recovery time to last several weeks. There may be some bruising and sensitivity to light. Don’t treat pain with aspirin or ibuprofen, and don’t wear contact lenses. Sleep with your head elevated. Try not to rub your eyes. Wear dark glasses if you go outside.

Charlotte’s most experienced facial plastic surgeon

Dr. Sean Freeman, Charlotte’s best facial plastic surgeon, is the doctor who developed the SOOF lift blepharoplasty as an alternative to the traditional procedure. He has been certified by two different surgery boards, the American Board of Otolaryngology (head and neck surgery) and the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. Since 1988 he has done nothing but facial plastic surgery, and has often taught the SOOF lift to other surgeons.
