Revision rhinoplasty is done by only the very best Charlotte rhinoplasty surgeons
Revision rhinoplasty is the most challenging form of rhinoplasty, performed by only the best facial plastic surgeons. By definition, revision rhinoplasty is done to improve on the work of a previous surgeon, and as such should be done by someone with greater than average skill. In addition, the tissues of the nose may still be fragile, even a year after the original surgery.
Many things can go wrong during a nose job. A surgeon with limited experience may miscalculate the thickness of the skin on your nose or the strength of the underlying cartilage. The nose the patient asked for may turn out to be unsuitable for his or her face. Or something may go wrong during recovery.
In spite of this, nearly nine out of ten of the people who get nose jobs are happy with them, and only about one in thirty needs revision. But this is no comfort for those who do need a revision rhinoplasty. They have already waited weeks or months for the swelling to go down, only to find their nose looking as bad as or worse than it did before — and since the nose is in the center of the face, there is no way to hide the damage.
The process of revision rhinoplasty
The bad news is that the nose will not be ready for a revision rhinoplasty until at least a year after the original surgery. If you need revision rhinoplast, you will want to make sure everything goes right this time by finding a surgeon who does a lot of revision rhinoplasty and has a good reputation.
While recovering, be sure to get enough fluids and plenty of sleep, keeping your head elevated while you sleep to reduce swelling. Take whatever medicine your surgeon prescribes.Try to avoid heavy exercise that might raise blood pressure in your head or bring your nose into contact with anything for the next few weeks. (This includes your glasses, unfortunately.) Wash your hands often and limit social contact to avoid the risk of respiratory illness.
